NOTE DE SYNTHÈSE - Février 2022
Les enjeux des mutations du COVID-19 : entre crise sanitaire et crise sociale, comment agir ?
Added to the health crisis is a crisis of confidence, as waves of protests have followed one another for almost two months (add "in Guadeloupe" for the quotes). Only 40% of the island's population had received at least one dose of vaccine at the end of 2021. This figure drops to 31% for Guyana where the occupancy rate of intensive care beds is greater than 190% of the initial capacity. However, the central authorities say they are limited in their ability to act from metropolitan France, hence the decree of the state of emergency. At present, the Government's recommendations are divisive: between vaccinated and non-vaccinated, citizens calling for individual responsibility and protesters accusing the government's freedom-killing measures, the tension is palpable. The remarks and positions of members of the Government are also highly criticized, in particular those of the Minister of National Education, Youth
and Sports, Mr. Jean-Michel Blanquer. Indeed, the multiplication of contaminated within schools as well as the frequent changes in the health protocol impose strong constraints on the staff of the National Education. The latter also responded with a national strike on Thursday, January 13.
