Since January 1, 2022 and for 6 months, France has taken over from Slovenia as President of the Council of the European Union. This is the thirteenth time that France has held this position, which gives it major prerogatives, particularly with regard to negotiations in favor of a new European model – within the framework of the Conference on the Future of Europe. It is responsible for organizing the meetings of the Council of the European Union, ensuring cooperation between the Member States and between the other European institutions. It also contributes to developing measures for European citizens, also in the areas of ecological and digital transition, the protection and adaptation of the social model, the protection of borders and the dissemination of European values.
